Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Etruscan Spiral" Cocktail Table
United States
circa 1960’s
Rare and generously proportioned rectangular "Etruscan Spiral" cocktail table of patinated bronze and pewter with dashes of polychrome. Designed and hand-crafted by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, circa 1960's, with a pattern consisting of bronze forms embedded in pewter, reminiscent of ancient Etruscan artistry. Through constant experimentation, Philip developed a technique of patination using Asian soils, imparting an archaeological quality to their designs, each of which was unique in its coloration and patination.
