670 Lounge chair and 671 ottoman designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 and produced domestically by Herman Miller. Vitra has produced an authorized version of the chair since the late 1950's for the European and now Asian markets. The Vitra edition differs in several particulars from the U.S. model (notably the base, along with slightly different measurements and materials). This example was procured from Vitra Switzerland in 2014. It is the extra wide version featuring polished aluminum bases and connectors, white-pigmented walnut #49 veneer, and the highest quality leather offered--#72 snow. But for a few very minor scuffs it is in almost as new condition and, more importantly, it is presently in New York City and so is available for purchase in the U.S.A. Measurements are for the chair only; the ottoman measures H 17 inches x W 25.5 inches x D 22 inches.
