Rare trapezoidal side table with walnut top with rounded chamfered edges and solid brass demountable legs culminating in ball feet.  Designed and produced by Martin Freedgood, circa 1951.  Freedgood was a largely self-taught designer who studied briefly at Columbia University, opening his own studio in New York upon returning home from service in WWII. This side table was offered in two sizes (this being the smaller) and two heights (19" and 13", this being the lower). Distributed through Georg Jensen and Bernhard and Hayes.  Selected as part of the inaugural Good Design program by MoMA in 1950, these tables were featured extensively in the period design literature, including appearances in Furniture Forum and Current Design (Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston), pictured here.  Price is for the 13" high table, the 19" high table has already sold.

Condition
Fine overall condition. The tops have been refinished and look great.  The solid brass legs show areas of wear consistent with age and use.  See photos.
