Highly textured, abstract wall relief of sawn, stained, and collaged wood and found wood objects by Lithuanian-born American artist Josef Twirbutt. Twirbutt arrived in New York City in 1959 and plugged himself into the Village art scene. He created his wall sculptures in the 1960's and 1970's. Large-scale projects included a masonry mural at 1 Police Plaza. His work has been exhibited in galleries and shows across the country, as well as in Spain, Italy, and Mexico. The present work is from the artist's collection.
