Gae Aulenti Pipistrello Lamp for Martinelli Luce

$5,800.00

$5,800

Italy
circa 1970

Pipistrello ("Bat") lamp designed by Italian architect Gae Aulenti for Martinelli Luce in 1965. A vintage example, circa late 1960's, of this iconic Neo-Rationalist design. A particularly dramatic version, with the black enameled base juxtaposed against the white acrylic quatrefoil shade and the stainless steel telescoping column. The lamp adjusts in height from 28 inches to 35 inches. Newly rewired, retaining the original circular switch, but otherwise in quite lovely original condition. This is the largest size that was offered.

Condition
Overall very good original condition marred only by some minor loss of paint and some oxidation to the metal elements. The acrylic visor has minor abrasions. All consistent with age and use.
