Rare Glass Paul Mayen Hanging Fixture for Habitat
Rare Glass Paul Mayen Hanging Fixture for Habitat
$12,000
United States
circa 1950's
Hanging fixture composed of four glass cylinders of varying heights and diameters, arranged in a spiral pattern; each held by three protruding brass-plated rods. Designed by Paul Mayen and produced by Habitat, circa 1958. An artful composition, rare with all original cased glass elements. In fine condition, with surface wear to the brass-plated protruding rods, and some minor edge flakes to the glass, consistent (inevitable) with age and use. The presence of the glass fixtures dates the piece to prior to the early 1960s, when Habitat switched to using Lumacryl (plastic) exclusively. Measurements include the canopy.
Condition
Fine vintage condition. Wear to the small brass-plated rods protruding from the fixtures. Some small edge flakes to the cased glass, consistent with age and use, and inevitable in a design such as this.
